Sanjay Van is a sprawling city forest area near Vasant Kunj and Mehrauli in Delhi, India. It is spread over an area of 443 acres. It is one of the most thickly wooded areas of the city’s green lungs.
Sanjay Van is home to a variety of wildlife and over 200 species of birds, including peacocks, drongos, and parakeets, making it a birdwatcher's haven.
It plays a vital role in the conservation of the Aravalli ecosystem, acting as a natural lung for Delhi, improving air quality, and maintaining ecological balance.
Meet Our Walk Leader - Alok Kumar
Alok Kumar is a dedicated biodiversity conservationist with a strong academic background in Biodiversity and Conservation. He serves as a Researcher cum Naturalist at Asian Adventures, where he leads nature walks, develops butterfly habitats, and contributes to research. His career highlights include managing conservation and educational programs at the Conservation Education Centre (CEC), Delhi, under the Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS). Alok’s research on the Indian Leopard in the Asola Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary led to published reports and papers. Fluent in multiple languages and skilled in GIS and wildlife documentation, he is deeply committed to raising public awareness through citizen science initiatives and environmental education.
